Our Statement on Roe v. Wade

Frontline Arts stands with those who are impacted by the Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, dismantling the protections for abortion rights and medical privacy. Reproductive rights and reproductive autonomy are basic human rights, which include the right to plan a family, along with financial and childcare support, but also access to contraceptives and protection from forced sterilization, which has historically disproportionately affected black, brown and indigenous populations. When abortions are criminalized, there is also a dramatic increase in violence towards those who are pregnant, whom are also often victims of sexual assault. Even though we are located in a state where abortion rights are codified into state law, we all must stand united against the injustice those in states with trigger laws and uncertain futures are facing. It is important to speak out against injustice even if it makes others uncomfortable because complacency and silence works in the favor of the violent minority.
