In this workshop course, participants will cover the following: create a small editions of prints from a low cost PCB copper plate using B.I.G. ground. Students will have the opportunity to draw directly into Soft Ground using contour lines and also incorporate hard ground etching. The overall goal of this class is to introduce non-toxic alternatives into traditional intaglio printmaking techniques.
All materials, mediums and clean up materials will utilize non-toxic methods that fulfill the mission of our non-toxic and environmentally safe initiative.
Students provide:
-1 pair of Rubber Kitchen Gloves
-4-6 Pairs of latex gloves
-Paper towel rolls
-Soft Pencils: 3B, 2B, Ebony
-Approx. 6-8 small and medium size brushes,
-2 Sketches, or drawings Sized for 2 Copper plates.
About the Instructor:
Len Merlo is a full time artist and activist living and working in South Plainfield, NJ. He has 25 years of experience teaching art in NJ Public Schools and has taught workshops in ceramics, sculpture and printmaking. He has served on the Board of Directors at The Print Center of New Jersey, and The Arts Guild of New Jersey. He is also a member and workshop instructor a Frontline Arts.
