Explore the techniques of traditional handmade paper! Artists will learn the basics of pulling sheets and creating collage-work in the wet-process in this introductory workshop. Using found papers, objects, and materials, students will create artworks exploring the possibilities of paper pulp. Techniques taught include blow outs, inclusions, double-couching, shaped deckles and pigmenting pulp. Students are encouraged to bring papers, objects and materials that have minimal dimension and can be added to their work collages.

This course will dive into papermaking processes and techniques easily translatable to working in COVID-safe environments, like shared studios, or at home. A meditative form of art-making, let papermaking allow you to introduce new means of making into your art practices. Beginners welcome! No experience necessary!
