The Printmaker’s Journey: An Introduction

January 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st.

Over the course of a month, you will immerse yourself in the world of printmaking. Each week, we will explore a new technique, allowing you to apply your artistic style and ideas to various print media. We will cover linoleum relief prints, dry point intaglio on plexiglass, and screen print monotypes. Additionally, we will discuss the history of printmaking and highlight contemporary artists who incorporate print into their practices. Weekly homework will be assigned, where each artist will develop their matrix for printing in the following class. This course includes three additional hours of studio use during business hours.

Students provide:

Frontline will provide most of the materials needed for this course. Separately, students will need to provide a sketchbook for ideas and notes.

About the Instructor: Kath Yarkosky is an educator, printmaker, and fine art printer. Her work primarily focuses on industry, labor, socio-economics, and their impacts on the environment, both physically and psychologically. Kath has been teaching at Frontline since 2022, and serves as the studio tech and production printer. She is currently the Printer at the Experimental Printmaking Institute and an adjunct professor at Lafayette College in Easton, PA.
