Angela Martin
Angela graduated from the Scottish College of Textiles in 1994. She worked as a freelance designer and fine artist in Edinburgh until moving to New York in 1995 to become a full time textile designer at various studios. Angela went freelance in 2000 selling original artwork to all the major home, fashion and stationary markets. Her success led her to be offered a full time designing position at the GAP. Angela is currently the Director of Print and Pattern for Baby GAP and Sleep.
“The brief for this project was a commentary on war and the card I chose was the Queen of Hearts, my immediate thought was “the queen of broken hearts” and that really set the tone for this piece.
For the execution of it I was inspired to return to my love of silk screening, I thought limiting myself to black and red would force me into a strong graphic image.”
