Chad Wallace

Chad Wallace is an award-winning artist form Westchester, NY. Wallace’s Illustrations often feature animals in their natural environments. Working primarily in a realistic style, Wallace creates believability around his characters even when they are anthropomorphized to a degree. He credits his experiences growing up in rural Northern Westchester and summers in the Lower Hudson Valley for leading him in this direction. Wallace earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts at Syracuse University (1997) and received his Master of Fine Arts degree from FIT (2011). In 2008 he was awarded the Stevan Dohanos Award at the Society of Illustrators, NY for his Animal Olympics - Wrestling piece.

Wallace has worked with publishers Henry Holt, Scholastic, Sterling, Richard C Owens Publications, and Dawn Publications. He has also served as an adjunct professor of Illustration at Syracuse University and New Jersey City University and presently holds a position at the New York City College of Technology.

Wallace depicts a homeless veteran who finds himself in the unfavorable position of living in a cardboard box. His careful rendering of this piece evokes sadness and the unfortunate neglect of our American heroes.
